Internet Marketing Tips; Add heading tags to your page to drive traffic

Internet Marketing Tips; Add heading tags to your page to drive traffic

Internet Marketing Tips; One easy tip to drive traffic to your website is to add heading tags through-out your website, just not too many.

When a piece of text appears larger within the text of a page, it is probably part of a heading. If you go to the source code of the webpage you will find <h1>, <h2>, or <h3> tags on either end of the prominent piece of text.

Internet Marketing Idea: Use Heading Tags and Keywords in Sub-Title

Keywords in the heading text are more likely to be read by the search engines as then the keywords in the rest of the page. So it’s a good idea to not only use keywords throughout the content but make sure you include them in <h2> or <h3> tags in the body of the content.

<h1> tags have more weight than <h2>, and <h2> have more weight than <h3> tags. <h4> and <h5> tags exist, however, their influence on the search engines is pretty much the same as the rest of the text.

Internet Marketing Idea; Don’t use too many Sub-Titles with Heading Tags

It is recommend that you only use the <h1> only once for the page title, then feel free to throw in a few <h2> and <h3> tags as paragraph sub-titles.

Be sure to use your page keyword in all of your heading tags; use the <h1> tag for your page title, and <h2> and <h3> tags throughout your content. This small change may result in more traffic to your website for the keyword that you choose for your webpage.

Internet Marketing Tips; The Page Title is a first impression

Internet Marketing Tips; The Page Title is a first impression

Internet Marketing Tips; The page title is a first impression, craft a page title carefully it will be authoritative, fascinating, and exceptional.

You hear over and over about first impressions, and a Page Title is the first impression you make to your potential website visitors. What follows is a number of tips for your page title that will improve your on-site SEO and get your page indexed high in the search engines.

Internet Marketing Tip: Make your most important keyword the site concept keyword

When you did your keyword research, you chose a site concept keyword, hopefully, that is a niche keyword with a significant number of global monthly searches and limited competition. You will use that niche keyword for your main category at your website and use it on every page of your website.

Internet Marketing Tip; Include your page keyword in the page title

Whatever keyword you are focusing on in the particular blog, needs to be relevant to the blog content and should also be in the title. For instance; in this blog title, after the site concept keyword – Internet Marketing Tips – the page keyword is Page Title and to grab attention I added ‘is the first impression’.

Internet Marketing Tip; Keep your page title fewer than 70 characters.

Keeping your page title short (under 70 characters) is important and you need to accomplish a lot of things in your page title;

  • Make sure your title is catchy and interesting
  • Write a page title that promises actionable information
  • Use strong words in your page title that you are an authority
  • And, do not write a deceptive or confusing page title

Readers should be impressed when looking at your page title. If you craft a page title carefully it will be authoritative, fascinating, & exceptional. It should stand out from the 1000’s of other pages on the internet.

Internet Marketing Tip; Use different page titles for each page.

Each of the pages on your website, even if there are hundreds of pages, needs a unique title. It’s always a good idea to keep a spreadsheet with all of your current (and planned) pages listed with the titles that are attached to them, and the keywords used in each page.

Internet Marketing Tips; Optimize your website, on-site and off-site

Optimize your website, on-site and off-site

Internet Marketing Tips; To optimize your website use keywords that have at least 1000 global monthly demand and a limited number of competitors pages.

Whenever you do all the work to set up a website, your aim is to be on the first page. If you have already chosen your keywords, and, if those keywords have at least 1000 global monthly demand and limited competition, you are ready to get down to the business of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Internet Marketing Tip: Focus on Organic Search Engine Results

You absolutely want to be indexed on the first page of the organic search engine results, or at the very least, you want to be somewhere in the first few 3 pages.

If you don’t already know, the word organic means that you are indexed on the first few pages of the search engine results without paying for advertising. All of those businesses with sponsored ads, above the organic results and down the right side of the page, are paying for advertising… usually, they are charged per click. And, that can get very expensive.

Internet Marketing Tip: Optimize your social networking profiles with relevant keywords

Today it is easier to achieve the first page of the organic search engine results, then a couple of years ago, thanks to social networking. A Google+ business account, for instance, is very helpful to your SEO efforts. For this reason, it is a good idea to optimize all of your social networking profiles, using your keywords.

Internet Marketing Tip: Learn Search Engine Optimization strategies to promote your website.

Another thing that helps SEO is to design your website for visitors, not search engines. However, learning SEO techniques will better optimize your website.

There are 2 categories of SEO: on-page SEO and off-page SEO.

  • On-page SEO refers to how your website’s content is presented to the search engines. Fortunately, if you use a few simple techniques, your on-page SEO can be improved in short order.
  • Off-page SEO refers to your website’s overall ‘authority’ on the internet, which is determined by what other websites are saying about your site. This accounts for about 75% of how the search engines score and rank for your website and takes a bit of time to improve.

Internet Marketing Tips; Keyword research is the foundation of Internet Marketing

Keyword research is the foundation of Internet Marketing

Internet Marketing Tips; A keyword is the word(s) people use to search the internet so choose keywords that work for your business to use at website.

In the last keyword research article, we talked about keyword research being the foundation of internet marketing. However, we didn’t talk about what a keyword is and how it works to optimize your internet marketing efforts… so here goes.

Internet Marketing Tip: Use keywords to optimize your marketing content

These days all of us use the internet to research a subject and/or find a product or service provider? A keyword is a word (or phrase) that you type into the search bar to find information on a topic, product, or person you are researching.

People enter keywords into search engines like Google and Bing AND also social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. In fact, more and more consumers are finding businesses online by doing a keyword search.

Keywords will help you take advantage of this consumer habit. If you optimize your website and social networking profiles around the keywords that are relevant to your business, your prospects and clients will have an easier finding you online

Internet Marketing Tip: Choose relevant keywords in the content to promote your business

Relevance is important when choosing keywords to promote your business. Some obscure terms may be easy to rank for, but they might not be relevant to your business. You have to find a balance between relevance and difficulty.

Internet Marketing Tip: Choose keywords that match your business well and optimize your website around those keywords.

Use keywords in the following places:

  • Domain name
  • Website Title
  • Article and blog titles
  • Meta descriptions
  • Written Content (at least 2 times per 100 words)
  • Images Alt Tag
  • Social Networking Profiles
  • Local Marketing
  • Titles & descriptions in Video Marketing

It is difficult to know exactly which keywords will get the most relevant people to find your business, however,  there are ways to determine the popularity and competitiveness of certain keywords.

If you spend some time watching your website analytics, and the analytics of your competitors, you will gain valuable insight into industry trends and the demand for your product or services. You can also test and analyze how effective different keywords are at driving traffic to your site… what pages your visitors are landing on, and which pages they are exiting from.

Internet Marketing Tips; Put your brand into words, write a Mission Statement

Put your brand into words, write a Mission Statement

Internet Marketing Tips; A mission statement is a summary of your products/services, a statement of what makes your product unique and it’s benefits.

Internet Marketing Tip: Write a Mission Statement putting your brand into words.

A mission statement is a summary of your products or services, a statement of who your customer is, what makes your product or service unique and what in it for your customer. Write a response to each of the statements below, and then combine them in a cohesive mission statement.

1. What products or services you provide?

This part of your mission statement will provide your prospects and client with information about your products and services. Keep it short and simple, at the same time use descriptive words that let your prospect and client know exactly what you are selling.

2. Who do you serve?

Include a phrase that describes exactly the prospect or client that you serve. If your client is located in a specific geographic location, name that location. If you serve a specific age group, say like 55 and up, you could state that you provide a product or service for ‘seniors’.

3. How are you unique?

Add a sentence that explains what makes your product or service different from your competitors. What sets you apart from the competition.

4. What benefits can you promise?

What benefit does your product or service provide that your competition does not provide? In other words, ‘what’s in it’ (that’s different) for your prospect or client.

EXAMPLE:
“With over 25 years of sales and marketing experience, Lynn Albro understands the sense of urgency and the complexity of marketing on the World Wide Web. Working with small business owners, she provides cost-effective training, coaching, and premium services, helping clients to establish an internet marketing presence that generates sales of products and services.”

Internet Marketing Tips; Put your brand into words, write a vision statement

Internet Marketing Tips; Put your brand into words, for your prospects and clients, and for yourself and your employees, write a vision statement.

It is important to put your brand into words, not only for your prospects and clients, but also for yourself and your employees. The following vision statement has a purpose in the branding process and I have included tips on what to include in your vision statement and an example of one (based on my business).

Internet Marketing Tip: Write a vision statement, make it about your ultimate dream

Ask yourself  the following questions:

1. What drives you to get up and go to work in the morning?

For some of you, getting up in the morning means going to work and earning a wage to support yourself (and your family). It may be work that you love doing, and then again, it may be work that you do just to survive.

If you are starting a business, you probably have a vision of what that business will mean to you and how it will benefit other people.

2. What GOOD do you want to affect in your world?

Each of us was put on this earth with a gift (or set of gifts)  to do one thing better than anyone else. Along the way, we have learned (or developed) a set of skills that is different (in some way) than any of our competition. And, most of us visualize ourselves providing products or services that will make the lives of our clients better in some way.

Whether you have a business or are getting ready to start a business, think about what you have to offer and how to affect your clients in a GOOD way and write those thoughts down.

3. What ultimate benefits do your products and services deliver?

The product or service that you have to offer must in some way benefit your prospects, otherwise, they aren’t going to buy it. Put into words just exactly what those benefits may be.

Below is an example of what I see as my vision statement.

EXAMPLE:
“I understand the struggle that small businesses have getting the word out. My vision is to teach small business owners how to market their business on the internet, helping them level the playing field between big business and their business.”

Internet Marketing Tips; Position your Brand

Internet Marketing Tips; Position your Brand

Internet Marketing Tips; Positioning your brand is the process of finding an unfulfilled need in your customer’s mind and filling it with your brand.

Internet Marketing Tips; Find a position of your own

Find an unfulfilled need and fill it… kind of like ‘finding an itch and scratching it.’ Specialize in some aspect of your business and either create a new product or service or just do it differently than all of your competitors. In other words, create your own niche market. Kind of like discovering an all-new solution; like an invention. Or you can transform an established solution; i.e. computers to laptops or books to eReaders.

Internet Marketing Tips: Figure out what you do better than anyone else

What is your Unique Selling Proposition, or Point of Difference
Deciding which customers you serve best
Avoid copying someone else, find your own position by filling an unfilled need.

Internet Marketing Tips: Write a positioning statement

Include the following;
1. Name of your company or product
2. Your business description
3. A summary of your point of difference
4. Your customer profile

EXAMPLE: “Lynn Albro, Marketing Specialist, uses simple SEO and Social networking techniques to assist  small business owners with the goal of leveling the playing field by working smarter, not harder.”

Ask yourself these questions…

1. Is your positioning statement believable
2. Is it consistent with what your prospects and clients believe to be true about you
3. Can you consistently deliver the distinct attributes stated in the positioning statement
4. Can you package and deliver your point of difference consistently

Internet Marketing Tips; 1st Step in Branding, Research the Market

1st Step in Branding, Research the Market

Internet Marketing Tips; Branding is about consumer
beliefs and perceptions, research your product and
the market in which you will compete.

Branding marketing is the process of developing consumer beliefs and perceptions that are accurate and in alignment with what you want your brand to be. Early on in the process of Branding your business, research everything there is to know about your product and the market in which you will compete.

Branding 1st Step: Market Research

Internet Marketing Tip: Focus on contact signals

    • Think about where are your product or service inquiries coming from (or may come from); emails, phone calls, social networking sites.
    • Ask yourself which of your marketing contacts work and which don’t; email, social networking, direct marketing.
    • Follow up with your prospects or clients and find out what and where they purchased your product or service

Internet Marketing Tip: Think about Why Customers Buy from You

    • What does your product or service does best, and how do you do it differently than anybody else?
    • Thinking about clients that buy your product or service, what do they buy the most often.
    • What aspect of your business (products or services) gets the most attention from the buying public, your prospects, and/or your clients.
    • Think about what services you could offer or promise that your competitors don’t

Internet Marketing Tip: Sell what people are buying

    • Start with keyword research to find out what keywords your target market is using to find your product or service.
    • Research what types of web pages or websites your target market is visiting.
    • Determine what types of marketing materials your target market responds to.
    • In your business, what products or services are selling consistently to your target market?

Internet Marketing Tip: Research your competitors, industry organizations and networks

    • Visit the web pages of your competitors, check out their demographics
    • Search organizations that serve your industry; statistics, geographics, demographics
    • Join industry networks, groups, forums

Whether you are getting ready to start a new business, or just want to improve and update the brand of the business you are already conducting, it is always a good idea to research your market. After you have gathered all of this information, you can make informed decisions about how to move forward branding your business.

Internet Marketing Tips; Creating fresh content often is beneficial

nternet Marketing Tips

Internet Marketing Tips; Learning how to create interesting and relevant content will benefit your internet marketing efforts in so many ways.

Internet Marketing Tip: Create new content every day.

Before Internet Marketing, the content was created only when a company needed for a specific application or project.

Today, however, it’s an Internet Marketers goal to a constant flow of content…

    • The kind of content that your visitors feel compelled to share at their social networks
    • The kind of content that your visitors will link to at their blogs
    • The kind of content that your visitors want to subscribe to.

These days Internet Marketers create a constant flow of new content; blog posts, videos, eBooks, social networking status updates, direct messages, comments, and email messages to name a few.

Internet Marketing Tip: Content benefits the internet marketer in so many ways

    • Drives traffic to their websites,
    • Improves search engine rankings,
    • Engages prospects,
    • It helps nurture leads.

However, coming up with a constant flow of new content takes a lot of time and can be overwhelming.

And, if you stop producing content (at least once a week), your Internet Marketing efforts will suffer. In a nutshell… if you stop creating new content, you run the risk of turning off a major source of new traffic and leads.

To be a successful internet marketer you need to learn how to create marketing content that provides your prospects (and clients) with relevant information (that they really need)… that is interesting and so remarkable that they will feel compelled to share your content with their friends and colleagues.
