Put your brand into words, write a Mission Statement

Internet Marketing Tips; A mission statement is a summary of your products/services, a statement of what makes your product unique and it’s benefits.

Internet Marketing Tip: Write a Mission Statement putting your brand into words.

A mission statement is a summary of your products or services, a statement of who your customer is, what makes your product or service unique and what in it for your customer. Write a response to each of the statements below, and then combine them in a cohesive mission statement.

1. What products or services you provide?

This part of your mission statement will provide your prospects and client with information about your products and services. Keep it short and simple, at the same time use descriptive words that let your prospect and client know exactly what you are selling.

2. Who do you serve?

Include a phrase that describes exactly the prospect or client that you serve. If your client is located in a specific geographic location, name that location. If you serve a specific age group, say like 55 and up, you could state that you provide a product or service for ‘seniors’.

3. How are you unique?

Add a sentence that explains what makes your product or service different from your competitors. What sets you apart from the competition.

4. What benefits can you promise?

What benefit does your product or service provide that your competition does not provide? In other words, ‘what’s in it’ (that’s different) for your prospect or client.

EXAMPLE:
“With over 25 years of sales and marketing experience, Lynn Albro understands the sense of urgency and the complexity of marketing on the World Wide Web. Working with small business owners, she provides cost-effective training, coaching, and premium services, helping clients to establish an internet marketing presence that generates sales of products and services.”

Internet Marketing Tips; Put your brand into words, write a vision statement

Internet Marketing Tips; Put your brand into words, for your prospects and clients, and for yourself and your employees, write a vision statement.

It is important to put your brand into words, not only for your prospects and clients, but also for yourself and your employees. The following vision statement has a purpose in the branding process and I have included tips on what to include in your vision statement and an example of one (based on my business).

Internet Marketing Tip: Write a vision statement, make it about your ultimate dream

Ask yourself  the following questions:

1. What drives you to get up and go to work in the morning?

For some of you, getting up in the morning means going to work and earning a wage to support yourself (and your family). It may be work that you love doing, and then again, it may be work that you do just to survive.

If you are starting a business, you probably have a vision of what that business will mean to you and how it will benefit other people.

2. What GOOD do you want to affect in your world?

Each of us was put on this earth with a gift (or set of gifts)  to do one thing better than anyone else. Along the way, we have learned (or developed) a set of skills that is different (in some way) than any of our competition. And, most of us visualize ourselves providing products or services that will make the lives of our clients better in some way.

Whether you have a business or are getting ready to start a business, think about what you have to offer and how to affect your clients in a GOOD way and write those thoughts down.

3. What ultimate benefits do your products and services deliver?

The product or service that you have to offer must in some way benefit your prospects, otherwise, they aren’t going to buy it. Put into words just exactly what those benefits may be.

Below is an example of what I see as my vision statement.

EXAMPLE:
“I understand the struggle that small businesses have getting the word out. My vision is to teach small business owners how to market their business on the internet, helping them level the playing field between big business and their business.”
