In January I began a year-long quest to answer the question: What kind of impact does a high ranking website have, alongside a very focused Facebook Business page (with 5000 LIKES) and an assortment of focused Offers?
And, I have to admit something I don’t often talk about… I am really struggling with the first part of this marketing strategy – the website.
On January 1st I started a new blog with the title – 365 Internet Marketing Tips. The goal was to blog every day of 2013 – 365 times, each day with a different marketing tip. So I put up a WordPress.org and started adding blogs.
At first it was easy because I already had a backlog of articles that I could rewrite and customize, focusing on ‘Internet Marketing Tips’. After a couple of weeks I had my first setback; A realization that the website was not ranking on the search engines.
So, it was time to refocus and pay closer attention to the search engine optimization techniques that I’ve spent so much time learning. This meant an article-by-article rewrite, focusing on keywords.
With all this focus on keywords I realized that I wasn’t just writing about one Internet Marketing Tip per day, I use usually writing about 2, 3 or 4 tips per day.
That was a game changer… and I decided to go back to January 1st and start numbering each of these tips. There were already 70 tips in the first 31 days of the year. At this rate, by the end of the year I will probably have at least 700 Internet Marketing Tips.
And each day the website traffic ranking improves
The 2nd part of this quest – a Facebook business page – I set up a new Facebook page late in December. At first I named it “Internet Marketing Coach”, then after about 6 weeks I renamed it “365 Internet Marketing Tips”. I set up an advertising budget of $3.00 per day to get LIKES, and started not only sharing my daily blog, but also sharing Internet Marketing Tips I found all over the internet.
Every day, https://facebook.com/internetmarketingcoach365 gains a few new LIKES and we are currently up to about 1500 likes (right on target).
And, finally the 3rd part of this quest is to create Offers to convert LIKES into Leads. So first I set up the “2013 Challenge: Add a new Habit each month”. This is a webinar series with the goal is to add a new habit to your marketing strategy every month and by the end of the year you will have a fully functioning marketing strategy in place.
Beyond that I will be creating 3 more Offers throughout the year

As so far, the results are interesting. Just like every plan, there have been ups and downs… I’m looking forward to sharing the journey with all of you.
